Mona Lisas - Character Design

Character design and several style and expression explorations for the animation project Mona Lisas. The character designs were the most important part of the animation project, thus had to not only be incredibly distinct but also represent the interviewees psychologically and physically. Shape language was heavily used when designing these characters, and the choice to make them all animals also had significant impact in their meaning in the story and their inner workings. Each animal represents a specific type of person and archetype, that is then imbued with personal meaning and characteristics from that person's life and personality. Each character tells a story by their design alone and how they work around with eachother, given their sizes and different facial features. Every single detail of the designs was carefully thought out and developed to fit the author's view of the different interviewees.
